SUMMARY:Mark O'Connor's An Appalachian Christmas at CSB-SJU
DESCRIPTION:The College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University’s Fine Art series is presenting Mark O’Connor’s An Appalachian Christmas. \nMark O’Connor’s eclectic combination of jazz\, bluegrass and classical influences carries his vision of an American school of string playing. This much-loved holiday performance\, accompanied by his wife\, Maggie\, and son\, Forrest – both award-winning instrumentalists in their own rites – fashions a wondrous mix of instrumental and vocal music in bluegrass and other American music genres. The performance is playful and joyous at points\, but come prepared – the December winds won’t be the only chills you’ll feel. \nThe concert is Thursday\, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Stephen B. DESCRIPTION:The 15th Annual Sons of Norway Barneløpet will be held on Sunday\, January 22nd at Riverside Park in St. Cloud. \nThis a a free\, fun children’s cross country ski event for ages 3 to 13. On-site registration will be available starting at 11:30 a.m.\, but pre-registration by mail is preferred. \nYouth “races” start at 1:00 p.m. with prizes to all participants! Minnesota Youth Ski League cross country ski equipment will be made available for children at this event and provided by the Central Minnesota Youth Ski Club\, as needed. \nCookies and hot chocolate will be served amid a festive atmosphere\, complete with plenty of food\, demonstrations and sampling of Norwegian treats\, as well as the Viking Age Club from St. Paul.
