SUMMARY:Ukrainian Students to Visit St. Cloud
DESCRIPTION:30 students from Ukraine will be visiting St. Cloud on Thursday\, September 14th\, sponsored by the St. Cloud Morning Optimist Club and hosted at Cathedral High School’s Holy Angels Theatre Complex. The 13 to 18 year old students will take participants on an emotional roller coaster as they relay a message of courage and hope for their war torn country. \nThe presentation from 11:00 a.m. to noon at Holy Angels is free and open to the general public. Pre-registration is not required. \nStudents from St. Cloud Cathedral\, Sartell-St. Stephen\, Sauk Rapids-Rice\, St. John’s Prep\, and the St. Cloud Christian School will enjoy lunch in the Cathedral Courtyard and have an opportunity to interact with each other and with the Ukrainian guests. Over 200 Central Minnesota Junior and Senior High School students are expected to attend. \nFollowing lunch\, the Ukrainian students will visit St. Cloud State University. They will return to their homeland on September 16th. \nIrina and Dick Fursman are the founders of the Global Synergy Group and organizers of the You LEAD 2023 Youth Leadership Exchange program. DESCRIPTION:The Blind Boys of Alabama have the rare distinction of being recognized around the world as both living legends and modern-day innovators.  They are not just gospel singers borrowing from old traditions; the group helped to define those traditions in 20th century and almost single-handedly created a new gospel sound for the 21st.  Since the original members first sang together as kids at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in the late 1930s (including Jimmy Carter\, who leads the group today)\, the band has persevered through seven decades to become one of the most recognized and decorated roots music groups in the world.
