DESCRIPTION:St. Cloud State University’s Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education is recognizing International Holocaust Remembrance Day. \nThe day recognizes of the liberation of Auschwitz on Jan. 27\, a date the United Nations has designated as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Leading up to and around that date\, the university features an annual lecture series entitled The Scott and Lynn Bryce Lecture on Holocaust Education\, a series intended to commemorate the lives of the victims of the Holocaust and to honor the roles of the two professors who were the founders of Holocaust education at St. Cloud State.   \nThis year’s speakers are Steven Hunegs\, who is the Executive Director of Jewish Community Relations Council\, and Rebecca Erbelding\, an author\, historian\, curator\, and archivist at United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to learn about Hmong history and culture in Minnesota during a free February event series. “Exploring History and Culture in Central Minnesota – Hmong Cultural Center”. \nThe free program is hosted via Zoom each Saturday in February from 11 a.m. to 12 noon\, this is a partnership project of the Benton\, Morrison\, Sherburne and Stearns county historical societies.  The series seeks to create greater understanding and awareness of cultures that have been and still are part of central Minnesota and its history. \nThis year’s programming comes from the Hmong Cultural Center (HCC) in St. Paul\, a nonprofit organization. The programs will be presented by HCC’s director of programs and the executive director. DESCRIPTION:The Paramount Center for the Arts in St. Cloud is featuring the exhibit “Fantastic Occurrences” in its main floor lobby. \nThe exhibit spotlights the art of Lou Lou\, whose paintings are intentional\, whimsical and nestle between realism and surrealism. The art possess a dreamlike quality rich with luscious greenery. \nThe exhibit can be viewed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. \nBy the way\, you can visit with the artist on Saturday\, March 11 from 5-7 p.m during her art reception. DESCRIPTION:The Lindgren Child Care Center at St. Cloud State University is hosting their 13th annual used book sale\, and they could use your help. \nEach year\, the Lindgren preschoolers hold a book sale in the Atwood Memorial Center. If you have any gently used books to donate you can drop them off at the Child Care Center located next to the the Engineering and Computer Center or at a number of campus departments. They do not want any textbooks. DESCRIPTION:Sherburne County Parks is thrilled to partner with the Great River Regional Library and the City of Elk River Parks & Recreation to combine literacy with some favorite outdoor spaces. \nThey’re hosting a Poetry Project for those up to 18 years old\, and providing more of a Poetry Path in the parks\, featuring submitted work! The theme of the project is Find Your Voice!  Submitted poems will be posted along paths in Elk River’s new and improved Orono Park and well as Sherburne County’s Grams Park\, Bridgeview Park and Oak Savanna Park throughout the summer reading program. \nTo participate\, sharpen your pencils and pick up your Poetry Form at the Big Lake\, Becker\, or the Elk River libraries.  You can also print the form the Sherburne County Parks & Recreation website or the City of Elk River Parks & Recreation website. . \nPoetry submissions will be accepted at each participating branch until the end of February. \n\nRadio: We have more details at KVSC.org\, visit the Area Events page.

SUMMARY:Shiny Sparkling Gem - Handbell Favorites Concert
DESCRIPTION:Great River Resonance\, Central Minnesota’s premier handbell ensemble is presenting  a concert of handbell favorites from traditional hymns to popular music. \nGreat River Resonance is a more than 5 octave bell choir comprised of ringers from the greater St. Cloud area. They perform 1-2 concerts a year\, offer small group ensembles for events\, educational events for local ringers\, and customized learning sessions for individual choirs. \nOur bells and chimes are a combination of Schulmerich and Malmark. We get the best of both worlds! Great River Resonance is part of Handbell Musicians of America\, and they  proudly represent Area 7 of Minnesota\, South and North Dakota and.
