Volunteers Needed to Work Remotely for Trivia Weekend
KVSC is seeking volunteers for the radio station’s 42nd annual Trivia Weekend, which is on the air February 12-14, 2021. Trivia Weekend is a central Minnesota tradition and we consider it a cabin fever buster! The strength of KVSC’s contest is our volunteers–who provide interactive fun for our teams who compete from Minnesota, the Midwest and globally. Due to the pandemic, the contest will run for 33 hours, versus the typical 50-hour competition.
In 2021 all phone bank volunteers will work remotely; we will not have a phone bank on campus.
Step 1 for Phone Bank-Complete Pre-Contest Sign-Up Info:
Here’s how you sign-up to be a remote phone bank volunteer. Our trivia tech wizards need to gather some information to assist your home set-up. Please complete this PRE-CONTEST SIGN-UP by January 30th.
Step 2 for Phone Bank:
Review the Trivia At Play Phone Hotline hours below. Based on your response to the survey (see Step 1), we’ll be in touch to assess your needs to help you be a successful volunteer. It will be super helpful if you can complete the survey and lock-in your hours by January 30th–allowing us time to communicate tech support and shift scheduling. Thank you!
KVSC will provide the resources and training needed to be a superstar volunteer–all from the comfort and safety of your own ‘play pen.’ If you volunteer 12 hours or more, you will qualify to receive a commemorative Trivia At Play T-shirt.
Trivia At Play will be live on the air for 33 hours beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 and continuing through 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14. Volunteers are needed to help answer the 20 trivia phone hotlines, every hour!

PARKING LOCATIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS:
The parking policies at SCSU no longer allow visitors to park for free in any campus lot. However, you can park for free in H-lot for Trivia Weekend only, all other lots may result in a parking ticket.
H-lot is located between Ruby Cora Webster Hall (formely Building 51) and Riverview, just south of Stewart Hall. Enter campus by turning onto 8th Street off of 5th Avenue. Follow 8th Street all the way to the end, head up the slight hill at the end of 8th Street (heading east toward the Mississippi River) and you’ve found H-lot. Again, all other lots and spots will be ticketed–or you can pay as you go in timed pay lots or the 4th Avenue Ramp.
As a volunteer for Trivia Weekend, you can expect to answer the phone in three hour shifts as trivia teams call in with their answers. The most needed hours are overnight and early morning. No matter when you choose to volunteer, you can expect to have plenty of delicious food to keep your energy up as more than 40 local businesses cater throughout Trivia Weekend.
Working the trivia hotline is fun work and all volunteers are trained on-site before beginning their first shift.
Feel free to call the office during regular business hours Monday-Friday at 320-308-3066 regarding any questions on volunteering.
The details below are not applicable to 2021.

If you enjoy hanging out with creative — and sometimes nutty — people and being wined and dined, then we could really use your help. Volunteers are needed between 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14 and 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. We hope you can attend the awards ceremony at 7 p.m. to be recognized for your herculean volunteer efforts! Most volunteers work the trivia hotlines, which is literally the nerve center of Trivia Weekend. Training is minimal and provided on-site. The shifts are offered in three-hour increments, and nocturnal volunteers are in high demand.
