A 73-year-old man was believed to have drowned in Clearwater Lake Saturday morning.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says officers responded to the reported drowning just before 8 a.m. at 1365 Basswood Road located three miles east of Fairhaven Township.

Sanner adds Harald Nesenson of Bethel was discovered by family members in the water between a pontoon and dock. Nesenson was believed to be climbing out of his pontoon when he lost balance and fell into the lake.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by South Haven Fire and Rescue and Gold Cross ambulance.

The incident is still under investigation.
