The Untold Story of Grateful Al’s Not Dead and Central Minnesota Radio Legend Al Neff

For over forty years, Al Neff’s voice has been synonymous with the sound of Central Minnesota radio. From the airwaves of KVSC to WXYG The Goat, Al’s broadcasting journey has taken many twists and turns.

However, after life-threatening heart conditions earlier this year resulted in significant financial troubles, a group of local musicians – helmed by China Rider – banded together, setting up a benefit concert to help aid the longtime on-air personality.

In this week’s installment of Untold Stories, KVSC Music Director Winston sits down with Al to discuss the show and the many takeaways from a career in radio.

You can listen to half-hour version of the show as it aired on KVSC.

If you want to hear even more from Al, we also have an extended, hour-long version of the episode that you can listen to.
