KVSC continues its tradition of supporting local artists by presenting its annual Minnesota Music Day.

On November 18, from 6 a.m. to midnight, KVSC will broadcast only music created by Minnesotan artists. Minnesota Music Day pays tribute to the hundreds of musicians with Minnesota Roots.

The day will include three live performances by Minnesotan musicians.

Representing the thriving Minnesota Hip Hop scene will be a live on air performance by Sean Anonymous, Phillip Morris and DJ Name at 3 p.m.

Then at 5 p.m., Crankshaft will pay homage to the blues tradition with a modern rock ‘n’ roll twist, with roots in Anoka, Crankshaft is as Minnesotan as they come.

At 10 p.m., Monday Night Live will continue to feature live Minnesota music with a live performance by The Shakin’ Babies. Then tune in at 11 p.m. to catch local psychedelic rocker’s, First Communion Afterparty, new album Earth Heat Sound in its entirety.

KVSC’s music library has about 20,000 songs by Minnesotan artists on both vinyl records and CDs. The station will play more than 200 songs by Minnesota artists throughout the day.

But Minnesota Music Day is nothing new for KVSC, we have always supported local music. Every Monday from 7-10 p.m., 88.1FM airs a show called The Area presented by host John Drake, which exclusively plays Minnesota music.
