A child was dropped from a balcony Sunday afternoon in St. Cloud.

St. Cloud Police say at 4:40 p.m. officers arrived to the 1900 block of Quarry Road where a 4-year-old girl was dropped from a third story balcony. A witness said a man had held the girl by the wrists on the balcony and then let go, and she fell to the ground. The girl was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life threatning injuries.

The man who dropped the girl was her 33-year-old uncle Baraka Mohamed Ahmed of St. Cloud. Through interviews police were told he is non-verbal. Police found Ahmed just before 10 p.m. at a business in north St. Cloud. He was arrested without incident.

Ahmed is currently being held in the Stearns County Jail on charges of 3rd degree assault and domestic assault. The investigation is ongoing.
