As Hockey Day Minnesota approaches here in St. Cloud and as Super Bowl activities are ramping up in Minneapolis, the United States Food and Drug Administration wants you to be safe with your food.

USDA spokeswoman Kelly Montgomery says that for sports parties, it is important to check your food handling. One survey sites that 40 percent of consumers don’t use a food thermometer to check temperatures of chicken, most commonly wings. It is important to make sure that all your food is properly prepared and cooked.

Hockey Day Minnesota will start on Friday, January 19 at Lake George to kick off the Hockey weekend. The Super Bowl will be held on Sunday, February 4.
