A five-year-old boy in Big Lake Township has died after a tree fell on him on Tuesday night.

Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott says the boy was playing on a hammock with other children when a seven foot tall tree, to which to hammock was tied, uprooted. The tree fell and hit the boy on the head.

The boy has been identified as Edward Michalek. According to the sheriff, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
