The man who was wrongfully accused of killing Cold Spring Officer Thomas Decker has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Stearns County sheriff and attorney.

Ryan Larson was arrested in 2012 as a suspect in the murder of Cold Spring Officer Thomas Decker. Larson’s attorney, Devon Jacob, says in his filling, “investigators perpetrated a fraud on the court to hold Larson in custody after unlawfully arresting him.” He went on to say even after all evidence pointed to Eric Thomas as Decker’s murderer, Sheriff John Sanner and County Attorney Janelle Kendall refused to close the case.

Larson’s lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis.
