The holiday winter storm has moved through central Minnesota but the high winds caused damage for some St. Cloud homeowners. A large pine tree snapped off near its base falling on the roof of a home located at 2350 Clearwater Road in the city’s south side.

Wind gusts between 40-55 mph were part of the storm that made driving conditions very difficult and closed highways in northwestern Minnesota and Interstate 94 in North Dakota. There are reports of heavy snow drifts Tuesday in this part of the state and Dakotas.

Locally, layers of ice built up on sidewalks and driveways so take extra caution when walking.

St. Cloud State Meteorologist Bob Weisman says the storm has finally moved out and we can expect much more moderate weather the rest of this week, including high temperatures between 34-38 degrees Wednesday.
