Archived: Highway 24 Will Close Intermittently In Clearwater
Part of Highway 24 near the Mississippi River Bridge in Clearwater will be closed four times each weekday beginning Monday.
The closures were scheduled to begin Dec. 5, but were postponed due to rising waters at the work site. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says closures will occur from sunrise to sunset, Mondays- Fridays, until Dec. 23 as scheduled. Each closure will last up to 15 minutes while flaggers stop traffic in both directions.
The closures are needed to deliver oversized concrete beams for the new Highway 24 bridge project. Forth-six beams will be delivered, each 178 feet long, weighing 110 tons, and are manufactured in Minnesota.
The entire project will be complete in the summer of 2018.
