Archived: Metro Bus Trolley Is Collecting Food Donations This Holiday Season

A trolley bus will be parked in front of local grocery stores starting Monday to collect food items for the Jolly Trolley Food Drive.

Metro Bus says they’re partnering with Royal Tire and Townsquare Media to help area families this holiday season.

If you see the Metro Bus trolley at select Coborn’s, Cash Wise, Lunds and Byerly’s and Walmart stores, you should know it’s collecting food and donations.

All food will be donated to the Promise Neighborhood, Salvation Army and Catholic Charities Emergency Services food shelves. The Jolly Trolley is also encouraging cash donations. All funds will be matched because of a grant, and food shelves’ can use the money at the Second Harvest food bank. This year’s cash donations will be matched through the Skalicky Foundation’s annual Charity Challenge.

Metro Bus CEO Ryan Daniel says, “A 10 dollar donation could easily purchase at least 80 dollars worth of food.”

The drive has a new name this year since the trolley bus is being used. It was formerly called the “Fill the Flyer” food drive.

The Jolly Trolley will be parked at the following locations:

  • Monday, Dec. 5 from 4-7 p.m. at Coborn’s, located on Cooper Ave. in St. Cloud
  • Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 4-7 p.m. at Cash Wise E. in St. Cloud
  • Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 4-7 p.m. at Lunds + Byerly’s in St. Cloud
