Archived: Intoxicated St. Cloud Teen Tied to Pawn Shop Burglary

A St. Cloud teen was taken to a juvenile detention facility after being caught after allegedly breaking into a pawn shop while intoxicated.

The Police Department says officers were sent to Max It Pawn on Division Street a little after 11 p.m. Saturday night when their burglary alarm was triggered. Officers on scene reported signs of forced entry at the back door. Police believe the teen used tools to break the glass door.

A witness described a suspect they saw leaving the shop. A few block away, officers found a 16-year-old boy who matched the description. When approached, the teenager took off running but was quickly caught and arrested. Police say he had been drinking, and was carrying stolen items from the shop and tools used to break the glass.

He was taken to Stearns County Jail and will be moved to a juvenile detention facility. He was charged with second degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, minor consumption and possession of alcohol, obstructing legal process and curfew violations.
