Archived: UPDATE: Remains Of Jacob Wetterling Found Nearly 27 Years After Abduction
The remains of Jacob Wetterling, who was abducted in 1989, have been found. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the DNA today after testing, according to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspicions provide a strong link between Wetterling’s disappearance and the child pornography trial of Danny James Heinrich. Heinrich is facing charges unrelated to Wetterling, but was named a person of interest last fall.
A court docket obtained by KVSC shows a judge in the case, John R. Tunheim, is asked to deny Heinrich’s request to suppress evidence and statements.
Heinrich is being represented by Katherian Roe and Reynaldo Aligada Jr. He is facing 5 felony charges of possession of child pornography and 2 counts of receipt of child pornography.
Jacob Wetterling was 11-years-old when he was abducted Oct. 22, 1989, near his home in St. Joseph. Since that day his family, friends and community members have continued to search for answers.
