Officials are asking for the public’s help in finding who is responsible for a fire at the Church of St. Mary in Melrose last March.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says they are looking for more information that could lead to an arrest and conviction of the person or people involved.

A fire broke out just before 5 p.m. on March 11. The blaze was considered incendiary and caused about $5 million of damages. The church building, located at 203 S. 5th Ave. East, was built in 1898 and is part of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

A reward up to $7,500 is being offered through the Minnesota Chapter of the IAAI.

Anyone with information can call the ATF hotline at 888-ATF-FIRE, that’s 888-283-3473. The Minnesota Arson hotline will also accept calls at 800-723-2020. Callers are allowed to remain anonymous.

The ATF is working with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety State Fire Marshal Division to make an arrest.
