Archived: St. Cloud Man Charged in Alleged Assault Against Brother In Avon
A St. Cloud man has been charged with 2nd degree assault with a firearm and being a felon in possession of a gun.
Charges were filed this week against 38-year-old Raymond Scott Hanson in an incident that happened on April 10 in Avon.
Investigators say Hanson ran into his brother’s home and pointed a gun at him. The 43-year-old victim then ran toward Hanson while he was pulling the trigger. The two men struggled over the gun and Hanson was shot two times in the leg and abdomen. The victim also suffered gunshot injuries and was airlifted to the St. Cloud Hospital.
Witnesses say Hanson threatened to harm his brother earlier in the day. Hanson denied witnesses’ account and shooting his brother.
He told investigators that his brother shot him from the kitchen when he entered the residence. However, shell casings were found near the entrance door.
Hanson has a prior conviction for second degree assault in the county and is not allowed to own a gun.
