A St. Cloud Area School District 742 teacher received the 2016 WEM Outstanding Educator Award for Academic Challenge Coach.

The Executive Director of Synergy and Leadership Exchange WEM, Wonda Sommers Wall, says Jennifer Doom was selected as a recipient of the award. She has been a teacher and coach at Tech High School for 17 years.

She has advanced Knowledge Boal teams to state competition 12 times. School officials say Doom knows how to interact with today’s adolescents, build a relationship with them and inspire them.

She is currently the advisor at the Tech’s Health Occupations Students of America. Doom will receive a $15,000 award in May.

The award was created in 1998 through WEM which is a private foundation in Minnesota. It supports the important role of teachers in helping students academically.
