A fire that broke out Thursday afternoon in Collegeville Township is under investigation.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says a house located at 31705 160th Avenue caught fire just after 2 p.m. Joseph Rogers, 48, of Avon lives at the address but wasn’t home during the break out.

Deputies were the first on scene and reported that one of the pets inside was rescued by fire personnel. The home was damaged when part of the roof collapsed.

Avon, St. Joseph, Cold Spring and Albany Fire Departments helped put the fire out. The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
