St. Cloud State will organize the 2016 History Day Saturday morning at the Atwood Memorial Center.

About 300 students will take part in the event to compete with projects they have made about history.

Director of the education outreach program at Minnesota Historical Society, Tim Hoogland, says about 1,200 students state-wide will compete at the University of Minnesota on May 1st.

About 60-65 students will move up to the national competition in Washington D.C. to represent the state of Minnesota. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
