Archived: Family Safely Escapes Fire in Freeport That Destroys Home
A family safely escaped a weekend fire near Freeport, but their home and garage are considered a total loss.
The Stearns county sheriff’s office says 44-year-old Roxanne Marie Schliemann was home with her three children and significant other when their home was engulfed in flames. The Freeport and Melrose Fire Departments and the Melrose ambulance responded to the fire. Both the garage and the residence are considered a total loss.
Schliemann and her family were able to escape without harm. Officials suspect the fire was caused by a wood boiler in the garage.
