Archived: Chicago Man Arreste Charges Of 1st Degree Murder After Fleeing To St. Cloud
The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force arrested a man in St. Cloud who is believed to be involved in a murder in Chicago.
On Monday the Minneapolis Field Division of the U.S. Marshal’s Office requested Task Force Commander Steve Soyka to help them locate 22-year-old Kevin Lamar Mason from Chicago. Mason reportedly was involved in a murder there that happened about two weeks ago.
Police believe Mason had fled to St. Cloud where he was hiding with his relatives. Mason had a warrant on charges of 1st degree murder and a parole violation for being a felon in possession of a firearm out of Illinois.
Officers found one of the relatives had a juvenile warrant out and the other relative, identified as 34-year-old Shawanna Vaughn, had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Both of the relatives were arrested and taken to the Stearns County Jail.
Officers later found Mason at 57 Belmar Street. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Stearns County on the outstanding warrant. He is waiting for the extradition of his process.
