The Anoka County Medical Examiner’s office has ruled the death of a Rice woman, Tammra Baker, a suicide.

Back on November 14, 2015, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting gunshots in the Rockwood Estates mobile home park. Forty-four year old Baker was the victim of a gunshot wound and she was pronounced dead at the scene. During the investigation Baker’s husband gave a statement indicating that she used the firearm to shoot herself in their mobile home. At the time, her spouse was considered a suspect.

Evidence found at the scene was sent to Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for forensic testing. Tests include gun-shot residue swabs that were taken from both Baker and her husband and the surface of the firearm was analyzed for DNA. Authorities say after the autopsy all evidence pointed to suicide.

The Benton County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Rice Police Department, Rice Fire Department, and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension during the investigation.
