Archived: Alcohol May Be A Factor In Christmas Eve Car Accident Near Freeport
The Stearns County Sheriff’s department was called to a single car accident near Freeport on Christmas Eve, December 24th.
The one vehicle crash happened just after 3:30 p.m. on County Road 167, near Long Lake Road north of the town. Deputies learned at the crash site that 26-year-old Trent Paul Primus lost control of his car when he was on a downhill curve. Primus slid sideways into the northbound lane, swung around and ended up hitting an electrical pole on the west side ditch.
He was taken to the Melrose Hospital for his injuries. Law enforcement is still investigating the accident and believes speed and alcohol may be contributing factors to the crash.
