Archived: Princeton Man Arrested Friday After Allegedly Attacking His Wife

A Princeton man was arrested on alleged charges of assaulting his wife Friday afternoon.

Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott says deputies responded to an assault report at 1:30 p.m. in Baldwin Township. Sixty-two-year-old Allen Hugget allegedly pointed a rifle at the victim and said that he would hurt himself. The victim escaped from the residence and called the police.

Deputies evacuated the area around 127th Street and stopped school bus routes. Brott says attempts to begin a dialogue with Hugget failed and a standoff took place. Tactical teams from the sheriff’s office and the Elk River Police Department were called to negotiate with the suspect.

Hugget gave himself up at about 4:30 p.m. and was taken to the Sherburne County Jail.
