MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The parents of an 11-year-old boy who was abducted in 1989 are holding a community meeting to help residents in central Minnesota cope with recent developments in the case.

Patty and Jerry Wetterling are hosting the meeting Sunday night in Paynesville, which is about 20 miles from where their son was kidnapped years ago.

In October, authorities arrested a man on child pornography charges and named him a person of interest in Jacob Wetterling’s disappearance. Daniel James Heinrich isn’t charged in Jacob’s abduction and has denied involvement.

But court documents in Heinrich’s case list a string of unsolved sexual assaults on young boys in Paynseville that preceded Jacob’s abduction. Patty Wetterling says she has resources to help those who were affected, and she hopes the meeting will help everyone find more answers and pool together instead of suffering alone.
