The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for St. Cloud, central and western parts of Minnesota Monday and Tuesday.

St. Cloud State University Meteorology Professor Bob Weisman says to expect between 4-8 inches of snow in two stages. Weisman says 2-5 inches of snow will fall Monday afternoon and into the night. An additional 1-2 inches of snow will fall Tuesday night. A few breaks in the snow are anticipated with mix of sleet and freezing drizzle.

Weisman adds the snow will be wet, heavy and difficult to remove. Driving will be difficult due to slippery road conditions and reduced visibility. Drivers are encouraged to be careful, drive slowly and leave plenty of distance between vehicles.

The winter advisory is in effect until Tuesday midnight.
