A St. Cloud man was taken to the hospital after being trapped under a forklift in St. Joseph Wednesday morning.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says deputies were sent to Amcon Block Company in connection with a medical emergency shortly after 11:30 a.m. Thirty-two-year-old Michael Lee Vulkelich, a mechanic at the company, was working on a forklift. He had raised the forklift’s rear end and put it on two 6 inch by 6 inch blocks. The forklift then slid forward and Vulkelich was pinned under the machine.

Employees used a second forklift to raise the other one off Vulkelich. He was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

St. Joseph Fire Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
