Archived: St. Cloud State University Creative Art Series Continues With Estonian Performance

Estonian music group Ensemble U is performing its newest work “Accretion” for the Creative Art Series this November at St. Cloud State University.

Ensemble U will perform Tuesday, November 3rd at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. In addition to performing, the group will present master classes on music entrepreneurship in a post-Soviet republic and improvisation. They will hold an open rehearsal Monday, November 2nd at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall.

Ensemble U performs contemporary, experimental and improvised music. The group performs without a conductor and often commissions new works by composers from Estonia and around the world. “Accretion” is composed by SCSU Professor of Music Scott Miller. Miller met the group while serving as a Fulbright Scholar at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn, where he taught at the university and became active in the local music scene.

The performance is the 3rd event in the School of the Arts’ 2015-16 Creative Art Series. Each visiting artist offers a master class workshop for students and presents a free public performance. The 10 events are designed to introduce people to new concepts in art, film, theater and music.
