Archived: Crews Begin Year-Long Road Construction Project Along Highway 169 North Of Milaca

Drivers in Milaca should be aware of a two-phase year-long road closure on the north side of Highway 169 starting Monday.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays when parts of Highway 169 north of Milaca are reduced to a single lane. The closure is needed to make temporary crossovers and turn lanes to redirect traffic while seven miles of northbound Highway 169 between Milaca and Onamia are reconstructed.

Road crews will work Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Northbound Highway 169 will be open from noon-9 p.m. Fridays and southbound lanes will be open Sundays from noon-8 p.m.

The first phase of the road closure is anticipated to last until mid-October. The second phase of construction will begin in spring 2016.
