A Sauk Rapids man was arrested on alleged charges of fleeing from police and child endangerment early Thursday morning.

St. Cloud Police Lieutenant Jeff Oxton says officers were called to a report of a threat complaint in the 100 block of 20th Avenue North just before 5 a.m. The caller told officers he was being threatened by a man with a stick. When officers arrived at the scene they could not find anyone matching the caller’s description, but noticed a vehicle speeding down the alley.

Officers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop resulting in a pursuit for about seven miles. 30-year-old Robert Adam Derosier finally stopped in the 1900 block of North Benton Drive across from Highway 15th in Sauk Rapids. Derosier was travelling with his daughter, a 15-month-old girl, who was in a car seat in the back.

Oxton informs Derosier had an active felony warrant for his arrest out of the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Derosier was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of pursuit and was carrying a small amount of a suspected controlled substance. He was taken to Stearns County Jail waiting for court on the warrant and facing charges of fleeing from police, child endangerment, 5th degree possession of a controlled substance, 2nd degree DUI and reckless driving. The daughter was turned over to a family member.

Oxton concludes Derosier’s vehicle received damage to one of the wheels as a tire had blown out during the pursuit. No other injuries were reported. The investigation shows Derosier is not involved in the original threat complaint involving a man with a stick. Oxton says the complaint is still under investigation.
