ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) – More than 400 athletes over 50 years old are gathering for the Minnesota Senior Games in St. Cloud.

Kelly Sayre, director of sports and special events at the St. Cloud Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, tells the St. Cloud Times athletes range in age from 50 to nearly 100.

The event are taking place in St. Cloud for the first time, drawing competitors both locally and from outstate.

Participation numbers were slightly limited by the fact that the National Senior Games are in Minneapolis and St. Paul in July.

There are 21 sports, from archery to cycling to track and field.

Competition runs Thursday through Sunday at locations across the St. Cloud area.
