Archived: Stearns County Offers Grants To Help Replace Damaged Septic Systems

Recent cold weather left some septic systems in Stearns County frozen and a few completely unusable. This has left some Stearns County residents with the financial issue of replacing the systems.

With The Stearns County Environmental Services Department only having a limited amount of funding available to help homeowners, additional funding came from the state in the form of a grant. The department says eligibility for the grant requires that:

•The household has low income.

•The property is a homesteaded single family home or duplex.

•The sewage treatment system is documented to be an imminent threat to public health and safety, or fails to protect groundwater status.

The funds are available for a limited time and are given on a first come first served basis. If you think you qualify for the grant you can receive an application by contacting The Environmental Services Department at 320-656-3613.
