An Elrosa man was airlifted to the St. Cloud Hospital after a rollover crash on Saturday night in North Fork Township on the north side of Belgrade.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says deputies responded to a vehicle crash with serious injuries on County Road 13 north of John Field Road. According to deputies, a witness says a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 54-year-old Craig Schmidt pulled out of the road and went into the west ditch and rolled. As a result, Schmidt was ejected from his vehicle and was in and out of consciousness when the deputies arrived to the scene.

Sanner says Schmidt was first taken to the Sauk Centre Hospital, but was later airlifted to the St. Cloud Hospital. Sanner says the cause of the accident is under investigation, but alcohol seems to be a contributing factor.

The Elrosa Fire and Rescue Department assisted the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
