Archived: Two Suspects Arrested after Fleeing From Police
Two St. Cloud residents were arrested after running away from Waite Park police Saturday afternoon.
Waite Park Police Chief Dave Bentrud says officers noticed a traffic violation at the intersection of 10th Ave South and 1st St South in the city of Waite Park. After ignoring the attempt of police to stop, the vehicle continued to travel north bound on 10th Avenue and then east on County Road 75 located on Division Street.
Dwight Preston Steele Junior of Kimball, who was driving the vehicle, and his passenger Jeasea Arianna Skutt of Princeton drove to the intersection of 2nd Avenue South and 2nd Street where they threw contraband out of the vehicle. Bentrud says they finally stopped in the 4100 block of 2nd Street South in the city of St. Cloud, but drove away from officers at a high speed.
The vehicle then continued to the Thiellman Court area of St. Cloud before going east bound on 2nd Street South and southbound Roosevelt Road. They eventually drove into the garage of a house at the 2600 block of Atwood Drive and closed the door. Bentrud says officers then closed off the area and called the St. Cloud Police for further assistance. After they arrived they were able to arrest Steele on charges of fleeing from police. He also had a felony warrant for running away from Wright County. Arianna Skutt was arrested on a felony narcotics warrant out of Sherburne County.
Bentrud says officers found narcotics and paraphernalia among the items the suspects threw away while fleeing from Waite Park Police.
