A St. Cloud man was hospitalized after being assaulted on early Saturday morning.

St. Cloud Police Lieutenant Jeff Oxton says officers were called to the St. Cloud Hospital in connection with an assault reported in the area of 8th Avenue and 7th Street South at 1:50 a.m. Officers learned a 21-year-old man was assaulted by several individuals.

Oxton says the victim had been walking home with a pizza when a group of 5-10 people approached him. Several people in the group then started punching the victim and tried to take his headphones. As a result, the victim received moderate injuries.

The suspects have left the scene and the only description given by the victim is that one of the suspects was Hispanic man in his 20’s with a thin mustache.
