Archived: Two St. Cloud Men Arrested And Face Charges of Distributing Crack Cocaine

Two St. Cloud men were arrested on charges of distributing crack cocaine in St. Cloud on Tuesday.

The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force arrested 22-year-old Martell Burson and 22-year-old Darius Jackson of St. Cloud in connection with the distribution of crack cocaine. A media release from the task force says they received information about Burson selling drugs at the Coborn’s store located on Cooper Avenue South.

Undercover investigators set up an active surveillance of Burson and observed him conducting a sale. They saw him arriving at the store and selling a certain amount of the drug. He then got into a vehicle and left the scene, but investigators and a uniformed officer stopped the vehicle at the intersection of University Drive and Roosevelt Road. Five individuals were inside the vehicle at the time, all of whom were temporarily detained.

Burson was arrested on charges of 3rd degree sale of crack cocaine. Officers also detained Jackson under previous charges of possession of controlled substance. Both Burson and Jackson were booked to the Stearns County Jail. In addition to crack cocaine found in the vehicle, officers found a bag of crack cocaine hidden in the cavities of Burson’s body upon his arrival at the jail. He took out the bag and threw it striking the correctional officer. Police say Jackson also had crack cocaine on his body and faces additional charges of introducing contraband to a correctional facility.

Additional charges of 4th degree assault against a correctional officer, 1st degree possession of controlled substances and possible charges of bringing illegal drug to a correctional facility are expected against Burson. Jackson is facing charges of 3rd degree possession with purpose of selling crack cocaine and possible charges of introducing illegal drug to a correctional facility.

The St. Cloud Police Department K-9 unit assisted the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force.
