Archived: Foggy Weather Causes Annandale ATV Driver to Land In Open Water

Dense fog is believed to have caused a driver to be swayed into open water in airhaven Township on Saturday morning.

The Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says deputies received a call about an ATV being stuck in the channel connecting Clearwater Lake and Lake Augusta. Sanner says the investigation showed the ATV belongs to Ronald Geisinger of Annandale.

During the investigation, Geisinger arrived and told he was returning home after ice-fishing on Clearwater Lake when the dense fog left him disoriented. He then ended up driving his ATV into open water. He said he didn’t call the Steans County Sheriff’s Office because he did not receive any injury. The South Haven fire department assisted Geisinger in removing his ATV.

The Stearns County Sheriff Office encourages people to be careful while moving around lake areas as the warm temperature is changing the ice conditions.
