Archived: Man Seriously Injured After Hitting Semi On Highway 10 In Sartell

An 18-year-old man was seriously injured Tuesday morning after his truck hit the side of a semi at the intersection of Scenic Drive, and Highway 10 in Sartell.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the accident occurred around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning when Jacob Hanson of Williams along with passenger 17-year-old Connor Williams of Sauk Rapids were driving a Chevy Pickup east on Scenic Drive towards the intersection at Highway 10.

At the same time a semi driven by 76-year-old Milton Smail of Bemidji was driving south on Highway 10. Due to snow and ice packed on the road Hanson was unable to stop and slid through the intersection running into the rear drive axel of the semi and crashed by the rear duals.

Minnesota State Patrol Officers say Hanson’s condition was serious while the passenger, Williams was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
