Archived: November 10th Snowstorm Sets St. Cloud Records
The snowstorm that hit central Minnesota during the early morning hours Monday left behind record snowfalls in the St. Cloud area.
St. Cloud State University Meteorology Professor Bob Weisman says 13.8 inches of snow fell on the SCSU campus. The St. Cloud Prison recorded 14.8 inches of snow, a new record according to Weisman. Cambridge and St. Augusta have the highest snowfall total with 16.5 inches.
Weisman says the November 10 snowstorm beat out the famous Halloween blizzard of 1991 by less than an inch but couldn’t touch the 16.6 inches during the Armistice Day blizzard on November 11, 1940. He says overall, yesterday’s snowfall ties the February 1937 winter storm, as the 12th highest in St. Cloud’s top 25 snowstorms.
All this snow and high winds brings slippery and dangerous road conditions. The Minnesota State Troopers wants drivers to be cautious and slow down. Statewide troopers handled 105 crashes and 84 vehicle spin out in just a five hour period this morning, according to Lieutenant Eric Roeske.
