St. Cloud State University’s Foundation has received a $219,000 donation from the estate of Mary Beth Wedum.

SCSU has received more than $880,000 cumulatively from Mary Beth Wedum and J.A. Wedum Foundation. Wedum was a single parent student at SCSU during the 1960s, the foundation has decided to help take the burden off students shoulders by helping them financially.

President of the J.A. Wedum Foundation Jay Portz says the family of Mary Beth and the J.A. Wedum Foundation are proud to make this donation to SCSU.

The donation has led to the establishment of Coborn Plaza, a formal Welcome Center and higher-amenity student housing. The donation has also created a scholarship for single parents helping them to go back to school. The scholarship provides up to $2,000 to twenty single parents.
