Archived: Drug Investigation In Sartell Leads To Short Vehicle Pursuit

A routine neighborhood patrol escalated into a vehicle pursuit near Sartell.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force was conducting a controlled substance investigation on Thursday afternoon when they attempted to stop a car whose driver was suspected of being involved in narcotic sales.

Sanner says task force members approached the car, but the suspect locked himself inside and refused to cooperate with the officers. The suspect eventually drove off, going southbound on Le Sauk Drive.

During the short chase, the suspect ended up crashing into multiple vehicles, including another sheriff’s squad car.

Deputies eventually called off the chase due to the level of damage caused by the suspect. No one was injured during the chase.

The suspect’s car was found later Thursday afternoon abandoned in Sartell.

Sanner says the case remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
