Archived: I-94 In Rogers Reduced To Single Lane Driving Through November

Drivers in Rogers and St. Michael should prepare for delays along Interstate 94.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says Interstate 94 between Highway 241 and Highway 101 will be reduced to a single lane during non-rush hours until November.

MnDOT adds closures are needed so crews can work to widen bridges, construct temporary crossover lanes, and more in preparation for the I-94 Corridors of Commerce project.

The project will:

  • Add an auxiliary lane to eastbound I-94 between Highway 101 and Highway 241
  • Add a third lane to westbound I-94 between Highway 101 and Highway 241
  • Extend the deceleration lane from westbound I-94 to Highway 101
  • Improve the I-94 bridges spanning the Crow River
  • Construct a noise barrier
  • Make other improvements while lanes are closed for construction

MnDot says when the project is complete in 2015, it will reduce congestion and improve the efficiency of the transportation system.
