Archived: St. Cloud Man Indicted On First Degree Murder Charges Monday
A 23-year-old St. Cloud man was indicted Monday on first degree murder charges for his role in a shooting last March near the Coborn’s grocery store in Sartell.
Police say Demetreus Anthony McGinnis allegedly shot 20-year-old Maurice Galvin Jr., in what prosecutors say was a fight over drugs.
McGinnis says he was defending himself during a robbery and a scuffle over a gun led to the shooting last March near a Sprint store. The victim was later taken to the St. Cloud Hopsital where he died that night.
McGinnis was indicted by a Stearns County grand jury on a total of six charges, four counts of murder.
If convicted of first degree murder, McGinnis will serve a life sentence. McGinnis is being held on two million dollars unconditional bail and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday (Today) at 1:30 p.m.
