Archived: DNR Announces Wolf Hunting And Trapping Season Details
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says hunters and trappers can apply for the 2014 wolf season starting August 1.
For the early hunting season, 2,300 licenses will be available. The early season is set to start on Saturday, November 8, and 1,500 permits will be sold for the late season on November 29.
The DNR adds that their goal for wolf management is to ensure the long term survival of wolves in Minnesota while addressing conflicts between wolves and humans.
The latest population survey shows 470 wolf packs lived in Minnesota’s wolf range last winter. Large Carnivore Specialist Dan Stark says the population is stable.
