A Sartell woman was injured after she was hit by a car in St. Cloud while crossing the street.

St. Cloud Police Sergeant Jason Burke says officers were called to 7th Avenue South and Highway 23 just after 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

40-year-old Cindy Lynn Betts was crossing Highway 23 outside of the crosswalk when she was struck by a car driven by a 19-year-old woman from Burnsville. Officers say Betts was talking on her cell phone and was intoxicated when she had run in front of the car as it was going through an intersection.

Betts was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for injuries to her legs.

The driver of the car is not facing any charges.
