Archived: UPDATE: Stearns County Sheriff’s Department Adds No Wake Restrictions On Area Lakes
With the high amounts of rainfall in the last few days, Stearns County Sheriffs are placing wake restrictions on area lakes.
Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says the Chain of Lakes and Sauk River area around Cold Spring and Richmond as well as Two Rivers Lake in St. Anna, Koronis Lake near Paynesville, Rice Lake in Eden Valley and Big Lake in Munson Township are all experiencing higher than normal water levels.
Sanner adds that as of Friday, Big Fish Lake near Collegeville Township, Carnelian Lake in Maine Prairie Twp., Beaver Lake off of Hwy 15 in Fairhaven Twp. and the Caroline/ Maria chain of lakes in Southern Fairhaven Twp will have wave restrictions.
The sheriff’s office is encouraging boaters to reduce their speed so they minimize the waves created from their boats.
In addition, water patrol officer will be out on area lakes over the weekend, weather permitting, reminding boaters to follow these guidelines.
As more rain continues to move into the area, more lakes could be added to the list as needed.
