The Stearns-Benton Medical Society is holding a discussion for developing a protocol when prescribing controlled substances Tuesday, June 24.

Executive Director Mandy Rubenstein says the discussion will be on a community health policy for prescribing and refilling opioid, sedative, and hypnotic drugs. The focus is to improve the current status for prescription hassles for these drugs.

Rubenstein adds ER Physician Dr. Chris Johnson will be at the event to offer guidance when discussing protocol.

The discussion is to take place in the Atwood Memorial Center’s Voyagers North Room on the SCSU campus from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
