The Northstar Link Commuter Bus and Train will be offering free rides this weekend to celebrate the Twin Cities METRO Green Line Light Rail Transit system.

The new Green Line LRT will allow people to make connections from Target Field to the University of Minnesota, the State Capitol and downtown St. Paul.

In addition to its regular Saturday schedule, Northstar will add an extra southbound trip from St. Cloud to meet the extra Northstar train in Big Lake for the opening ceremonies. An extra northbound bus is also scheduled for a return trip to St. Cloud.

The Green Line LRT will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Union Depot in the Twin Cities with community celebrations at all seven Green Line stations throughout the day.
